Group Therapy/Counseling

  • What is Group Counseling?

Group therapy/counseling involves one or more licensed professionals who lead a group of individuals who are typically seeking similar outcomes.

  • What can I expect from these sessions?

Most Group Therapy/Counseling programs are designed to target specific problems that the members share, such as depression, obesity, panic disorder, social anxiety, etc. and can also focus on more general topics like grief, improving social skills and tackling low self-esteem.

  • What are the benefits?

Members of Group Therapy/Counseling act as a support network and a sounding board for each other. The diverse insights of the group often help you come up with specific ideas for improving a difficult situation or life challenge, and hold you accountable along the way.

How Do I Know if Group Counseling/Therapy is right for me?

Many people find it is most rewarding to participate in both group therapy and individual therapy. Participating in both types of therapy can boost your chances of making valuable, lasting changes. Individuals who have been participating solely in individual sessions often report that joining a group helped jump-start their personal growth and gave them new perspectives.

Confidentiality is always an important part of the KBR formula, and it still applies to our group sessions. However, there's no absolute guarantee of privacy when sharing with others, so we do advise that participants use common sense and wise judgment when divulging personal information. Groups work best where there is open and honest communication between members and trust.

Group members will start out as strangers, but in a short amount of time, you'll most likely view them as a valuable and trusted source of support. So, don’t worry about “fitting in” on day one.
