Individual Therapy/Counseling

One-to-one may be just what you need to help tackle some of life’s concerns.

What is Individual Therapy?

Individual therapy consists of a trained professional helping a single person work through personal issues they have been facing. It is a proven effective treatment for a variety of emotional difficulties and mental illnesses. “Talk Therapy” (as some have nicknamed it) can help improve or control symptoms that influence an individual’s well-being.

Therapy sessions give individuals the opportunity to confidentially talk through problems or situations with a trained professional. It does not necessarily make problems disappear, but it equips individuals with the tools needed to cope with them more appropriately.

What to Expect from an Individual Therapy Session

Individual therapy is useful for several situations that cause stress, anger, grief or conflict. A licensed therapist will explore many different important issues in a confidential and private setting, including (but not limited to):

  • Thoughts, emotions, and styles of expression

  • Behavioral patterns

  • Ration thinking and problem solving

  • Conflict resolution

  • SWOT (focusing on strengths and weaknesses)

Individual therapy can sometimes be short-term when mainly focusing on immediate issues/concerns, but can also be long-term when working through more complex issues. The number of sessions and the frequency of appointments depends on the individual’s situation and the recommendations of the therapist.

Therapy is a personal experience, so no two individuals will have the same path, outcomes and implementations. All practices and recommendations of the therapist are solely based on the needs of the individual.
